Introduction
Have you ever thought your elected officials should do something about conditions in or an issue faced by your community, your state, or the country at large? Have you ever believed a law should be enacted or changed? Have you ever disagreed with an action taken by one of your elected officials? If you're under eighteen and you can't vote on a referendum or a proposal for a new law, or if you can't show your support for the position of an official by voting for or against her or him, you can still make your voice heard by writing a letter to your elected officials, or by writing a letter to the editor of a newspaper.

Letter-writing is an ages-old, tried-and-true political advocacy tool that you can use to make your voice heard and effect change.
