A Message from the Chair
It has been a busy year. We are pleased to welcome as new members to the Healthcare Advisory Committee, Robert E. Fullilove, Ed.D., Associate Dean for Community and Minority Affairs, Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, Marjorie J. Hill, Ph.D., CEO, Gay Men’s Health Crisis and Joseph O’Neill, M.D., M.S., M.P.H., Former Director, White House Office of National AIDS Policy.
Throughout the year, I continued to represent the Committee in drafting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s revised Recommendations for HIV/STD Partner Services. Thanks to all of you, particularly Ann Fisher, who responded with comments for me to take back to the drafters.
Following our successful practice conference, HIV/AIDS Law and Practice: From Local Client to Global Workforce, in June I represented the Committee at a “Think Tank on HIV/AIDS” convened by The Flowers Heritage Foundation and Get Screened Oakland, a program implemented in Oakland, California, by Mayor Ronald Dellums, former Chair of President Clinton's Presidential Advisory Council on HIV and AIDS. I also represented the Committee at the 17th International Conference on AIDS where I participated in a satellite session on August 3, 2008.
The 2008-09 year promises to be just as busy! I look forward to seeing you all at our meeting in November.
Shelley Hayes
